1.當“only+狀語”位于句首時，其后習(xí)慣上要用部分倒裝。其中，only后的狀語可以是副詞、介詞短語、從句等。

　　Only in this way can we learn English. 只有這樣才能學(xué)會英語。

　　Only then did I understand what she meant. 只有到那時我才明白她的意思。

　　Only by shouting was he able to make himself heard. 他只有叫喊才能讓別人聽到他。

　　注意，在only后作狀語的是從句時，從句不要用倒裝，要部分倒裝的是主句。如：

　　Only when it rains do you feel cool. 只有下雨時才覺得涼爽一點。

　　Only when he returned home did he realize what had happened. 當他回到家里時，才知道出了什么事。

　　Only when we landed did we see how badly the plane had been damaged. 我們只是在著陸之后才看到飛機損壞的嚴重程度。

　　2.在句首的only如果后面跟了副詞、介詞短語或從句等狀語，則主句用倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)。如only后跟的是主語，就不用倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)了。例如：

　　Only when the war was over in 1918 was he able to get back to work.

　　Only in this way can you learn English well.

　　Only after a bitter struggle was the aim achieved.

　　Only the teachers are allowed to use the room.(不倒裝)

　　Only five men were hurt in the accident.(不倒裝)

　　3.注意，only和所修飾的狀語如果不在句首，則不倒裝。

　　如：

　　The boy was helped out only when his father arrived in a hurry.

　　Only then did he realize the importance of English

　　只有在那時候他才意識到英語的重要性。

　　4.only then ,是過一小會兒的意思，一般用在句首，引導(dǎo)倒裝句。

　　例句Only then did he realize the importance of English.

　　解析：在句首的only如果后面跟了副詞、介詞短語或從句等狀語，則主句用倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)。如only后跟的是主語，就不用倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)了。

　　再比如

　　Only when the war was over in 1918 was he able to get back to work.(倒裝句)

　　Only five men were hurt in the accident.(不倒裝)
